Lawyer Liu Yang currently works at Reed Smith Richards Butler. He graduated from Shanghai Maritime University with a Bachelor of Laws degree in 2008 and obtained a Master of Laws degree in Maritime Law from the University of Southampton in the UK in 2009. Liu Yang specializes in shipping litigation and arbitration. His practice scope covers maritime and commercial law, including disputes over charter parties and shipbuilding contracts, disputes over second-hand ship sales and purchases, cargo claims, general average, maritime insurance, and cargo sales. He has handled a wide range of arbitration cases of different types and scales under the terms of the London Maritime Arbitrators Association and the institutional arbitration rules of the Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre. Liu Yang is a contributing writer for the UK shipping law newsletter *Shipping & Trade Law*. He has also published numerous legal articles on shipping and commerce in renowned journals and newsletters in the UK, Mainland China, and Hong Kong. He is a member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and a member of the London Maritime Law Centre. In March 2015, Liu Yang was awarded the title of "Top 10 Outstanding New Hong Kong Youths" in the first session, in recognition of his outstanding performance in work and remarkable contributions to Hong Kong society.
