Ms. Oi-lan Pong, BBS, JP, holds a Bachelor of Pharmacy degree from Canada, has completed the Global Leadership Program at Harvard University in the United States, and obtained a Master of Arts degree from Australia. She is a consultant to Our Hong Kong Foundation and the Hong Kong Society for the Physically Handicapped, and one of the trustees of the New Era Trust founded by Mr. Leung Chun-ying, Vice Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference. She also serves as a visiting professor at Hong Kong Nang Yan College of Higher Education. Currently, she is a Hong Kong Invited Representative of the All-China Women's Federation, an Election Committee Member of the Medical and Health Services Subsector, a member of the Building Committee of the Hong Kong Housing Authority, and a member of the Committee on Promotion of Organ Donation. She once served as the president of the Hong Kong Pharmaceutical Association and the Hong Kong Society of Hospital Pharmacists, and was elected as a District Councilor for 12 years and the president of the Hong Kong Outstanding Young Persons' Association. Ms. Pong has collaborated with the World Health Organization (WHO) for approximately 15 years. She was elected as the Chairperson of the "Steering Committee for Healthy Cities in the Western Pacific Region" and also served as the Chairperson of the Organizing Committee for the International Conference on Healthy Cities in 2014 and 2021. Currently, she is the Vice Chairperson of the Hong Kong, China Branch of Healthy Cities. Ms. Pong has been appointed as a member of the Hospital Authority Board, the Health and Medical Development Advisory Committee, the Dental Council, the Chiropractors Council, the Council on Smoking and Health, the Steering Committee on Prevention and Control of Non-Communicable Diseases, and the SARS Trust Fund. She once served as the Chairperson of the Prevention, Education and Publicity Committee of the Action Committee Against Narcotics, a Non-official Member of the Central Policy Unit, a University Council Member of Hong Kong Baptist University, and the Vice Chairperson of its Campus Development and Facilities Management Committee. She also served as an assessment committee member for the Grantham Scholarships, the Youth Affairs Committee, the Committee on Services for Youth at Risk, and the Innovation and Technology Fund; a member of the Women's Commission, and the Convener of its Collaboration and Promotion Sub-committee. She was elected as one of the "Hong Kong Ten Outstanding Young Persons" and one of the "China's Top 100 Outstanding Women Entrepreneurs". In 2010, she was appointed as a Justice of the Peace (JP) by the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government, and was awarded the Bronze Bauhinia Star (BBS) in 2016. In 2018, she received the Healthy City Pioneer Award. Ms. Pong has written more than ten books. In 2003, when Mr. Tung Chee-hwa, the Chief Executive at that time, invited Yang Liwei, China's first astronaut, to Hong Kong, Ms. Pong served as a member of the Presidium of the Organizing Committee, being responsible for public relations, publicity, and the arrangement of the live broadcast program at the Hong Kong Stadium. She has a deep love for young people, so she produced an anti-narcotics film, which was shortlisted for the Golden Horse Awards in Taiwan. She also donated the royalties from her books to the Make-A-Wish Foundation to help seriously ill children fulfill their dreams.
