He once served as the Chief Liaison Officer for Hong Kong Affairs of the Qianhai Authority. With 27 years of experience in the computer industry, he has held management positions in several internationally renowned companies and possesses rich experience in management consulting, project management, and outsourcing management. Dr. Hong is currently a member of the Information Technology Subsector of the Election Committee of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, Deputy Director of the Youth Committee of the All-China Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese, a member of the Shenzhen Municipal Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, a member of the National Association for Hong Kong and Macao Studies, Vice President of the Guangdong Association for the Promotion of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Cooperation, President of the Internet Professional Association (Hong Kong), Chairman of the Hong Kong Road Safety Council, Honorary Chairman of the Hong Kong Young Elites Association, and Vice Chairman of the Hong Kong Yushan Science and Technology Association, among other positions. He was selected as one of the "Ten Outstanding Young Persons of Hong Kong" in 2008.
