Prof. William Shum JP

Mr. William Shum is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of MEMORIGIN Watch Company

Limited, and Co-founder and Director of Hong Kong Qianfan Technology Co., Ltd. He holds a

Master's degree in Applied Economics and Management from Cornell University, an Ivy League

institution. After returning to Hong Kong and spending approximately one year in investment

banking, he founded MEMORIGIN, Hong Kong's first tourbillon watch brand, in 2011 at the age

of 25.

Driven by his commitment to cultural heritage and unwavering dedication to product

innovation and technical excellence, MEMORIGIN established a presence in many of Hong

Kong's renowned watch and jewellery retailers within just a few years. Today, Memorigin has

evolved into an internationally recognised watch brand with a presence in more than 20

countries worldwide. In recognition of his contributions to the watch industry and the

community, Mr. Shum has received numerous accolades, including the Hong Kong Young

Industrialist Award (2015), the Greater Bay Area Young Leader Award (2020), and the Global

Outstanding Chinese Youth Innovation Award. In September 2023, he was conferred the

Fellowship in Management and Business Administration by the Professional Validation Council

of Hong Kong Industries. In the same month, he was selected as one of the first 106 torchbearers

for the opening day of the Hangzhou Asian Games, and was the only torchbearer representing

Hong Kong on that day.

A passionate advocate of youth education, Mr. Shum has served since 2024 as an Adjunct

Assistant Professor in the faculty of business and economics in HKU Business School, an Adjunct

Professor at the City University of Hong Kong Business School and an Adjunct Professor at

South China Normal University, where he encourages students to embrace traditional

craftsmanship, contribute to society, and pursue their aspirations. In the same year, he

expanded into the field of artificial intelligence as Co-founder and Director of Hong Kong

Qianfan Technology Co., Ltd.

Since 2025, Mr. Shum has served as a Council Member of Lingnan University. On 1 July 2026,

he was appointed as a Non-official Justice of the Peace (JP) by the Government of the Hong Kong

Special Administrative Region.
