The premiere of the microfilm *Walk North, Walk South* – a production focusing on youth development in the Greater Bay Area and hosted by the Belt and Road Development Association – was successfully held at Emperor Cinemas on July 13. Over 200 audience members attended the event, with support from more than 10 schools and organizations. This year marks the 10th anniversary of the Belt and Road Development Association, and this microfilm premiere is the 90th event hosted by the Association. Over the past decade, the Association has been assisting small and medium-sized enterprises and young people in participating in the development of the Belt and Road Initiative and the Greater Bay Area. Dai Jingfeng, Founding Chairman of the Belt and Road Development Association, delivered an opening speech. This year’s microfilm was sponsored by the Committee on the Promotion of Civic Education under the Home and Youth Affairs Bureau of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government. Throughout the years, each microfilm produced by the Association has been created in response to the social context of its time. In 2018, when society was grappling with young people’s sense of hopelessness about the future, the Association’s first microfilm *Bon Voyage* centered on the themes of "striving" and "persistence". In 2021, amid the pandemic, the second microfilm *With You All the Way* focused on "companionship" and "gratitude". This year, as Hong Kong enters a new era of transitioning from chaos to prosperity, the current microfilm explores the themes of "reflection" and "hope". An official website for this year’s microfilm – www.gonorthgosouth.com – has been launched. The music video of its theme song is now available for selection at Neway KTV, and its MP3 version can be downloaded on major music streaming platforms. The promotional video has received nearly 20,000 views on Facebook. A commemorative folder for *Walk North, Walk South* has also been produced this year, which students can use for school. Set against the backdrop of consumption trips to the mainland, *Walk North, Walk South* features four protagonists whose names are derived from four iconic locations in Hong Kong and Shenzhen. "Gaoxin Yuan" (inspired by "Gaoxin Park", a youth entrepreneurship base in Shenzhen), "Zhang Jun’ao" (from "Tseung Kwan O", one of the areas in Hong Kong with the largest youth population), "Le Ma Zhou" (after "Lok Ma Chau") and "Lian Tang" (from "Lian Tang") – the latter two being major border crossings between Shenzhen and Hong Kong. Through a story of entrepreneurship and love, the microfilm showcases the development of the Greater Bay Area and the hope for future growth. The audience responded positively to the microfilm, and the event was a great success.
